About the role
Essential Energy is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Engineering Officer to join our dynamic Innovations team. This role is pivotal in delivering technical excellence across the evolving Energy Network with responsibilities spanning analysis design planning execution and evaluation of engineering functions. You will lead the development and implementation of Innovative work programs manage budgets and provide high-level technical advice to stakeholders. Your work will directly contribute to enhancing system performance and driving innovation in energy solutions.
Working in the Innovations Team means no two days are ever the same. One day you might be assisting with the construction or maintenance of the Innovation Lab and the next you could be commissioning cuttingedge technologytesting how it works and ensuring it meets required standards. Our lab is continually evolving as we explore emerging network needs and identify new opportunities for growth across the business.
This role will be based in Port Macquarie and will be a 12 month fixed term contract.

About your skills
- Proven ability to manage and monitor technical work programs for optimal performance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address diverse engineering challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deliver technical services professionally.
- Ability to prepare detailed reports and strategic recommendations.
- Skilled in managing audits and implementing improvements.
- Proficient in business systems and computer operations relevant to engineering functions.
- Highly organised with strong time management and planning capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience/qualifications.
- Current Drivers Licence.
- WorkCover NSW Construction Induction Certificate.
- Maintenance of all required licences authorisations and certifications relevant to the role.
Desired experience
- Extensive experience in engineering within the Energy Electrical or Utilities sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of network design philosophies statutory requirements and safety rules.
- Demonstrated ability to manage technical issues during planned and unplanned events.
- Experience in strategic planning and managing business unit tasks.
- Level 3 Restricted Zone Substation access (desirable).
- Electrical Supervisors Licence
