As a key member of our leadership teamyoull oversee VAAs full financial cycle including budgeting forecastingaccounting financial analysis internal controls risk management banking andtreasury investments taxation contracts financial reporting and regulatorycompliance. Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have:
Education & Experience:
Professionalaccounting designation (CPA) is required.
Additionaldesignations such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Project ManagementProfessional (PMP) or Certified Risk Manager (CRM) would be considered anasset.
Training inChange Management Data Governance Finance Transformation Lean Six Sigma orother related areas would be considered an asset.
*Recentrelated experience must include:
A minimum of 5years of progressively responsible experience in financial management andaccounting roles.
Directexperience leading managing and executing the full financial cycle including:planning (budgeting and forecasting) accounting financial analysis internal controlsrisk management banking/treasury investments taxation contracts financial reportingand regulatory compliance.
Experience inan organization of similar scope size and complexity is highly preferred;experience within the transportation or aviation sector is a strong asset.
A track recordof fostering a positive productive and inclusive team culture.
Supervisoryexperience within a union environment is strongly preferred.
Technicalexperience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems as a Subject MatterExpert (SME).
Additionalexperience planning and implementing ERP systems or other financial systems isconsidered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience inan organization of similar scope size and complexity is highly preferred;experience within the transportation or aviation sector is a strong asset.

Knowledge of:
Professionalaccounting standards (e.g. GAAP) policies procedures and requirements.
Standards bestpractices and legal requirements related to all aspects of financial managementincluding: planning (e.g. budgeting and forecasting) accounting analysiscontrols banking investments taxation reporting and regulatory compliancein the Province of British Columbia.
Issues trendsand challenges related to the prudent and effective use of financial resources.
VAAs operatingenvironment including relevant federal/provincial legislation regulations andpolicies.
Human resourcesmanagement.
M365 Officesoftware and tools.

Required Security Clearance:
VAAis part of the federally regulated air transportation sector and employees mustabide by any potential future federally mandated health measures (e.g. COVID-19vaccination/booster shots).
