40Job Description Summary:
The Associate Chief Medical Information Officer (Associate CMIO or aCMIO) serves as the enterprise leader responsible for advancing technology-enabled care delivery across MarinHealth. This role partners closely with clinical and operational leaders in a dyad model to guide strategy and governance for clinical systems. The aCMIO collaborates to optimize the EHR and connected device ecosystem aligning workflows data and analytics to enhance safety quality access and clinician experience. The aCMIO partners on Clinical Informatics and provides end-to-end oversight of Biomedical Services integrating medical-device lifecycle management with informatics to support patient safety and operational efficiency. The role also serves as the liaison to UCSF and other partners to support joint planning interoperability and innovation across clinical informatics initiatives.Job Requirements Prerequisites and Essential Functions:
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Governance
Shapes the clinical technology strategy and portfolio including EHR clinical decision support (CDS) medical device integration (MDI) imaging virtual care and AI ensuring alignment with system priorities for quality safety equity patient experience growth and cost optimization.
Establish governance for change control prioritization and benefits realization; align with partner programs and joint operating structures.
Clinical Systems & Interoperability
Lead implementation/optimization of EHR and connected systems (CDS PACS/CPACS telehealth registries).
Ensure robust interoperability using HL7 v2/FHIR DICOM IHE profiles and IEEE 11073 steward API standards and data quality.
Own information blocking compliance and clinician-facing data access policies.
Biomedical Services & Device Integration
Oversee full device lifecycle (selection cybersecurity hardening maintenance UDI end of life).
Vendor management of Biomedical Services provider with direct oversight of vendors director.
Expand medical device integration (MDI) to the EHR; standardize alarm management and safety practices.
Partner on IEC 80001 risk management for networked devices with clinical engineering and IT.
Data Analytics & Clinical Decision Support
Enable delivery of self-service clinical dashboards for quality throughput harm events and equity and ensure actionable insights are embedded in clinical workflows.
Provide governance for clinical decision support (CDS) contentfocusing on effectiveness and alert burdenand oversee responsible use of AI/ML including validation bias monitoring post-deployment performance and maintaining human-in-the-loop safeguards.
Change Leadership & Clinician Experience
Apply human-centered design and workflow reengineering to reduce burnout and clicks.
Drive continuous improvement of physician/APP onboarding at the elbow support super user networks and solutions adoption programs.
Risk Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with HIPAA/HITECH CMS The Joint Commission ONC certification and applicable FDA guidance for clinical software.
Partner with Information Security on NIST/HITRUST aligned controls and incident response for clinical systems and connected devices.
Financial & Vendor Management
Own multiyear Biomedical Services capital/operating budgets; measure ROI/VOI for major programs.
Negotiate vendor contracts and SLAs; manage performance to outcomes and total cost of ownership.
People Leadership
Build and mentor high-performing teams while driving positive outcomes through effective matrixed leadership.
Foster a culture of transparency collaboration and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Advanced clinical or health informatics degree (MD DO with a minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience
10 years of progressive leadership in clinical informatics within an integrated health system; experience overseeing clinical engineering/biomed preferred.
Demonstrated success delivering system scale EHR optimization interoperability and device integration.
Preferred certifications: Board certification in Clinical Informatics.
Executive influence change leadership and vendor/portfolio management capabilities.

The posted pay range complies with applicable law and reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Individual pay is set by skills experience qualifications and internal/market equity consistent with MarinHealths compensation philosophy. Positions covered by collective bargaining agreements are governed by those agreements.
