Why your role matters

The Future Students Coordinator plays an important role within the Indigenous Student Success team at the Nura Gili Centre for Indigenous Programs supporting the promotion of university education to Indigenous high school students non-school leavers and Indigenous communities. This position contributes to Nura Gilis objectives by facilitating and coordinating access pathways into undergraduate and postgraduate degrees for Indigenous peoples. Working collaboratively with Faculties and Divisions across UNSW the role helps strengthen engagement and increase Indigenous enrolment in university programs.

The Future Students Coordinator reports to the Employability and External Relations Manager supports the Deputy Director of Nura Gili and has no direct reports.

Specific accountabilities include:

  • Contribute to a positive and dynamic Nura Gili community informed by culturally affirming values experiences and shared aspirations.
  • Collaborate with the Indigenous Student Success Team to foster relationships with schools vocational education providers and community groups to identify cohorts and connect with prospective Indigenous students develop early engagement strategies and promote holistic opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a communications schedule and content to facilitate timely advice to prospective Indigenous students their families education staff and internal stakeholders regarding UNSW recruitment and access pathways.

About You:

  • This position is open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants only. Confirmation of Aboriginality will be required.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education training and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to Indigenous programs and opportunities that result in positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
  • High level project/program management skills with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to create positive vibrant and respectful relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a range of computer systems and applications including Microsoft Office and CRMs.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
