PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provide effective computer networking and communication and assist with the implementation of the districts technology initiatives. To provide the availability of technology applications and resources to staff and students thus providing equitable learning opportunities for all students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Associates Degree in computer science or related field required
Certified Network Engineering (CNE) or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) preferred
Industry security certifications preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of networking data security data communications computer software and hardware; knowledge of PC communications and networking; strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Three (3) years experience in a technology networking or related field required
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan and design large-scale data networks.
- Perform system backups and data recovery.
- Resolve WAN/LAN communication problems.
- Maintain multiple network operating systems.
- Provide technology-related support to all district administrative computer users.
- Design install configure implement and maintain district wide area and local area networks.
- Manage PC server data communications installation implementation and maintenance.
- Provide network solutions as appropriate to effectively implement the districts goals.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining district-wide networking and security standards.
- Configure and install network hardware and software including cabling.
- Utilize network and security tools.
- Provide and maintain documentation for network deployment upgrades installation and network maps.
- Maintain current knowledge on security voice data and networking solutions.
- Analyze and troubleshoot networks hardware and software problems and recommend and implement solutions.
- Instruct users in the proper usage of computer equipment and security.
- Coordinate and perform preventative maintenance services as feasible.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining district-wide computing standards.
- Assist in installing configuring implementing and training of district computing software.
- Observe professional and ethical work standards and handle confidential and security sensitive information.
- Deploy manage maintain and troubleshoot current and legacy WiFi infrastructure for the entire District.
- Deploy manage maintain and troubleshoot current VOIP system for the entire District.
- Maintain and manage Active Directory domains user accounts Group-Policies scripting etc.
- Maintain and manage District-wide access controls via Rapid Identity AD O365 Google File-servers and Application servers.
- Deploy manage and maintain Data-center infrastructure storage application server management firewalls core switches and routers.
- Manage District-wide Cloud Applications O365 Google etc.
- Deploy manage and maintain Information Security Applications hardware and ensure data protection district-wide.
- Software distribution district-wide to computers servers and mobile devices.
- Work with 3rd party IT vendors to obtain quotes perform site surveys and oversee deployment.
- Project management of IT Enterprise projects.
- Maintain and troubleshoot a variety of devices that connect to our network (HVAC controls Food Service POS Security Camera solutions Physical Access Control Transportation/Warehouse/FM&O/ MISD PD applications & devices).
- Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
- Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
