About the role Mō te tūranga mahi
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Payroll Advisor to join our payroll team within the People and Culture group.
You will be responsible for end-to-end processing of all payroll tasks in our fast paced high volume payroll environment. Youll also support the Payroll Manager by providing technical leadership and mentoring to the wider team.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Being an escalation point for complex queries and issues.
- Providing coaching and mentoring to the payroll team.
- Accurate and timely end-to-end processing including loading validation maintenance of employee records in payroll system administration of employee-related benefits PAYE returns and payments journals and relevant general ledger maintenance.
- Responding to queries and maintaining relationships with third party providers.
- Act as second in command to the Payroll Manager
This is a permanent role based in either Dunedin Palmerston North or Manukau.
Please note this will be a January start date.
To be successful in the role you will have significant payroll experience within a large complex organisation where you have managed end-to-end payroll processing. You will also have strong relationship management ability and technical experience with a willingness to share expertise with the wider team.
- Experience and knowledge of large enterprise payroll and HRIS systems.
- PeopleSoft and/or Oracle HCM experience is beneficial in this role
- A high level of proficiency in all Microsoft Office products.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying problems and opportunities for improvement.
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs.
- In-depth knowledge of the Holidays Act Wages Protection Act Parental Leave Act and taxation legislation.
- Excellent customer service ability with a track record of providing accurate and timely advice.

The base salary range for this role is $90039 - $120052 with appointment depending on skills and experience and internal relativities. ACC also offers 9% superannuation.
