Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Management (ForEM)

ForEM has approximately 245 undergraduates and 125 graduate students enrolled at UNB to study forestry and environmental management. The faculty has several active research programs and currently employs 36 staff members and 17 faculty members.

WHAT WE OFFER

Full-time Term ending April 30 2027 Fredericton On-Campus

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri 8:15 am - 4:30 pm 36.25 hours per week

Additional Working Conditions:

Able to travel throughout the region to promote the Facultys programs.

Salary Range: $50149 - $62686 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Management the Graduate Programs Coordinator provides strategic outcomes-based leadership in academic programming study pathway and course management and program integrity. This position acts as the point-person for both prospective and current students The Coordinator collects and tracks data as well as provides analysis and reports in support of continuous programs improvement.

  • Act as the key contact person for all current and future professional masters students from program inquiry to application course advising and academic support through their cycle.
  • Provide one on one advising for students related to their study pathways including course options and selection in accordance with University policies and guidelines.
  • Assist students with program management and course selection; ensure compliance with academic requirements.
  • Review academic progress and annual reports due to the School of Graduate Studies (SGS).
  • Provide students with tools to make the best choice of stream/program.
  • Coordinate the Internship & Stewardship components for the MEM and MF-RPF programs respectively. Identify and communicate student opportunities in collaboration with the internal units and external partners.
  • Schedule and conduct regular check-in meetings with students to discuss their academic progress address concerns and provide guidance on program requirements.
  • Direct students to Student Affairs & Services for any supports provided outside of ForEM (counselling services writing skills support health centre physical or academic accommodations etc.).
  • Inform students about scholarship and other funding opportunities.
  • Act as the first stage of application review. Screen and confirm eligibility and academic history to help expedite the application process.
  • Maintain data on applicant success related to academic background and history geographic location prior academic institution and other factors.
  • Handle all internal and external inquiries from students staff faculty SGS stakeholders and partnerships related to the professional graduate programs.
  • Maintain and update the website (external facing) and SharePoint site (internal facing) information as it relates to professional graduate programs for program administration description review and evaluation.
  • Develop and update recruitment and marketing information in the form of social media posts videos brochures and exhibit booth materials.
  • Coordinate and participate in activities related to recruitment and promotion of the professional graduate programming with an outlook of continuous improvement in future years.
  • Act as the liaison with industry government UNB partner institutions and other external partners and stakeholders to find opportunities for funding and internship placement for current students.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field.
  • 3 years experience in a related occupation.

Additional Strengths

  • Masters degree would be an asset.
  • Strong communication networking and multi-tasking skills.
  • Skilled with Microsoft Suite products.
  • Able to work collaboratively within a team able to manage responsibilities independently.
  • Demonstrated program or project management experience.
  • Ability to work well with students staff and faculty members from diverse backgrounds.
