As Senior Counsel - EU you will primarily help to advise on existing and emerging laws and requirements in the region. You will guide cross-functional stakeholders on the impact of regional laws on Robloxs product and operations. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and remotely from Headquarters and collaboratively with all company partners.
This role reports to the Head of EU/UK Regulatory & International Legal.
You will:
- Advise on existing pending and developing regulations affecting Roblox including regulations concerning online UGC platforms AI and consumer protection in the EU (e.g. Digital Services Act CPC Principles).
- Identify new regulatory trends and educate company leadership on their implications.
- Help create a cross-functional response to legal obligations.
- Analyze complex legal issues and translate analysis into practical advice.
- Evaluate engage and oversee outside counsel in the EU.
- Liaise and develop strong relationships with relevant regulators in the EU.
- Provide legal advice and support in relation to local content ratings issues.
- Respond to requests for regulatory compliance advice from engineering product and marketing teams concerning communications and product launches.
You have:
- 10 years of post-qualification relevant legal experience;
- Experience working with or for a company or companies in the social media content or gaming space. Experience working for or with platforms classified as Very Large Online Platforms under the Digital Services Act is a plus;
- Strong critical judgment and analytical skills with the ability to propose solutions and translate your legal analysis into practical advice taking into account the needs and objectives of the business;
- Deep understanding of relevant EU regulatory frameworks;
- Qualified to practice law in an EU jurisdiction;
- Experience dealing with online safety consumer or other relevant regulators in the EU;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English;
- The ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment;
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills;
- The ability to handle a diverse and complex workload; and
- The ability to work collaboratively within a small tightly-knit team.
