Job description:The Educational Specialist is responsible for assisting residents in meeting their educational goals providing tutoring and academic support coordinating with education team and fostering a positive learning environment. This role involves working closely with residents the educational staff and the treatment team to ensure educational continuity and Responsibilities- Academic Support:Deliver classroom instruction to students based on teachers guidance and adhering to their Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs).Set and clearly communicate specific objectives for all lessons units and projects ensuring effective support across various content areas with regular communication with teachers about student progress adding students in keeping up with coursework and reporting any concerns to the Special Education support classroom lessons through providing 1:1 or small group focused vocational and life skills instruction for students with functional trauma-informed behavioral support to students utilizing de-escalation techniques reinforcing positive behavior and collaborating with educators and clinicians to maintain a safe structured and supportive learning classroom coverage and instructional support for teachers during absences maintaining instructional continuity by following lesson plans supporting student engagement and managing classroom as the lead teacher for academic support classes providing targeted instruction organization support and skill-building opportunities to help students in grade 6-12 meet their educational goals and classroom a safe supportive and inclusive learning environment.- Program DevelopmentWork collaboratively with Education staff to create and implement educational workshops activities special events and programs to enhance residents learning with the treatment team to integrate educational goals with therapeutic objectivesStay updated on educational best practices and incorporate them into the program.- Documentation and ReportingMaintain accurate records of residents academic progress attendance and and document behavioral and academic data to support IEP progress monitoring ensuring consistent tracking of student goals informing team decisions and contributing to quarterly and annual IEP reports and updates to the treatment teamEnsure all documentation complies with organizational policies and regulatory requirementsPerformance Expectations- Works in a reliable courteous and dependable manner- Maintains professional boundaries in the workplace which includes refraining from sharing personal information with Service Recipients.- Respects agency standards and structure yet is adaptable and open to new ideas- Responds to changing conditions with insight and flexibility- Fosters and maintains collaborative relationships; problem solves as part of a team- Adept at listening; works to genuinely understand what is being communicated- Offers and accepts feedback; demonstrates a commitment to learning and improvement- Communicates thoughtfully accurately clearly and concisely- Respects and protects confidentiality of information- Acknowledges and respects individuality sexual orientation and cultural racial ethnic and gender diversityQualifications- Bachelors degree in Education Social work or related degree- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an educational setting preferable working with at-risk youth or in a residential treatment program.- Strong Knowledge of educational practices and curriculum development- Strong Knowledge of math and ELA intervention strategies- Excellent communication skills- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population- Strong organizational and time management skills- Proficiency in using educational technology and tools.- Bilingual (Preferred)Job Type: Full-timeBenefits:403(b)Dental insuranceEmployee assistance programHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offRetirement planTuition reimbursementVision insuranceWork Location: In person
