Job Summary

Our Client a leading company within the Cosmetic Manufacturing Industry is looking for an HSE Officer who will Manage develop maintain and/or coordinate a varied and intensive program of environmental sustainable development and community-led activity for the company. The position will be accountable for managing the operations of all aspects of the environmental the company.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain professionalism and reflect the companys commitment to quality among employees continuous improvement equality openness and respect for all employees in their respective positions and under your supervision
  • Ensure employee safety training is conducted as required by company policy and environmental regulations including health and safety and that employees have the necessary working equipment and personal protective equipment (PPEs)
  • Create working procedures for your area of work (environment) provide copies to management for inclusion in the company manual and ensure all employees are conversant with the environmental procedures
  • Provide a positive and motivating example for employees
  • Contribute to a positive work environment that reflects the companys Core Values
  • Liaise with government agencies in relation to the environment and ensure the company is up to date on any new developments or laws
  • Write reports on the progress of work you are doing or have done in case of a change of position or when leaving work
  • Ensure employees comply with all OSHA safety requirements and follow up on company matters regarding OSHA NEMC FIRE and CITY COUNCIL including compliance and implementation
  • Plan and schedule training for employees on environmental issues including but not limited to OSHA NEMC and FIRE to ensure compliance and implementation
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure the maintenance and upkeep of the physical location
  • Follow up on all environmental issues of the company and advise management on any environmental matters
  • Manage the day-to-day environmental operations of the company while ensuring compliance with all statutory and other obligations
  • Advocate and promote a healthy and safe working environment for employees including the provision of PPEs working gear and uniforms
  • Prepare and submit weekly monthly and quarterly reports of work done to management and promptly report to directors in case of any emergencies
  • Oversee the day-to-day functions of the ETP system ensuring it is cleaned as per schedule or as needed
  • Ensure the water from the ETP is tested as per schedule or as needed
  • Follow up on test results from the ETP water and take appropriate actions based on recommendations
  • Ensure any malfunctions of the ETP are resolved as soon as possible
  • Ensure preventive maintenance is done on the ETP to avoid unnecessary breakdowns
  • Oversee the functioning of the fire hydrant system by conducting daily checks
  • Train personnel on the use and applicability of the fire hydrant system
  • Maintain training records for all sessions conducted on the fire hydrant system
  • Ensure the foam tank is serviced on time and certified
  • Ensure any malfunctions of the fire hydrant system are resolved as soon as possible
  • Ensure preventive maintenance of the fire hydrant system to avoid unnecessary breakdowns
  • Be responsible for company penalties or fines resulting from negligence or failure to perform required duties


Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or diploma in Environmental Science Occupational Health & Safety or related field
  • Minimum 23 years of experience in HSE roles within manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA NEMC and other relevant environmental and safety regulations
  • Proven ability to conduct safety training and implement compliance programs
  • Excellent communication reporting and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail with the ability to identify and mitigate risks
  • Certification in First Aid Fire Safety or related HSE programs is an added advantage
