This advert is open to current Internal Student Health Visitors due to qualify in December 2025 and January 2026 only.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join Suffolk County Councils 0-19 Healthy Child Service as aHealth Visitor working across various teams throughout Suffolk.

Our Health (0-19) and Childrens Centre teamsprovide services for parents carers children and young people focusing on prevention and early intervention to support children young people and their families to achieve their best outcomes. Health Visitors lead the Healthy Child Programme (DoH 2009) for children 0-5 years of age delivering both universal and targeted services tailored to individual needs.

Your role and responsibilities

You will:

  • Work directly with families to support the social emotional physical and intellectual wellbeing of expectant parents babies and children from pregnancy to age 5.

  • Lead the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme (05) assessing planning supervising and delivering high-quality care and evaluating outcomes in partnership with families.

  • Provide universal contacts at key milestones and enhanced support for families on targeted and specialist pathways as outlined in our Standard Operating Procedures and clinical governance framework.

  • Work in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct and maintain your NMC registration.

  • Safeguard children young people and vulnerable adults through effective practice and multi-agency working including participation in safeguarding meetings and relevant assessments.

  • Supervise and support junior staff and collaborate with partners and agencies to ensure joined-up responsive support.

You will need:

  • To be a qualified Health Visitor or nearing completion of your Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) course.

  • NMC registration as an adult paediatric mental health learning disability nurse or midwife.

  • Strong interpersonal communication and listening skills.

  • The ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds.
