Job Summary

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote and uphold The McWane Way principles values and behaviors.
  • Adhere to safety protocols outline in the Tyler Union Safety Management Program.
  • Assist supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow ergonomic and safe lifting techniques.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report any issues.

      Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to foundry department supervisors and teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee production planning scheduling and execution to meet customer demand and quality standards.
  • Monitor and control foundry KPIs including yield scrap downtime and labor efficiency.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for process and quality issues.
  • Collaborate with maintenance plant engineering and quality teams to optimize equipment reliability and process capability.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets including labor materials and capital expenditures.
  • Recruit train and develop team members to build a high-performing workforce.
  • Foster a culture of safety teamwork and accountability.

Managerial Responsibilities

Directly manage production leaders within a department producing ductile iron waterworks fittings. Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering Metallurgy Industrial Management or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of manufacturing or industrial experience.
  • At least five (5) years in an industrial leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of ductile iron casting processes preferred.
  • Proven track record of improving safety quality and productivity metrics.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma or similar methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Information :

Physical & Cognitive Abilities

  • This role involves frequent physical activity including climbing walking standing stooping balancing and handling tools and materials. Employees must be able to lift to 50 pounds as needed.
  • The work environment varies between a standard office setting and a manufacturing plant. Plant conditions may include exposure to heat cold dust and noise.
  • Regular walks through the plant are required. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as needed including safety shoes glasses gloves hearing protection and hard hats.
