The Payroll Specialist is in charge of making sure that all parts of payroll processing are done correctly on time and in accordance with the law. The best person for the job will have a deep understanding of payroll rules be very detail-oriented and be very good at organizing things.
Main Duties:
Pay all employees including hourly salaried and contract workers every two weeks every two months or every month.
Keep accurate records of payroll including timekeeping figuring out wages and deductions.
Make sure you follow all federal state and local laws and best practices for payroll wages and hours.
Manage payroll deductions like employee benefits garnishments and other things.
Make and send out payroll reports and statements.
Answer questions from employees about payroll problems or differences.
Work with the Human Resources and Accounting departments to make sure the data is correct.
Check payroll and fix any problems as soon as possible.
Keep up with changes in tax laws payroll laws and the best ways to do things in your field.
Help with year-end tasks like making and sending out W-2s and other tax forms.
Qualifications:
A degree in Accounting Finance Human Resources or a related field is preferred.
You need at least two years of experience processing payroll.
Knowledge of payroll software like ADP Paychex Gusto and QuickBooks Payroll.
A lot of knowledge about federal and state payroll and tax laws.
Great at math and paying attention to small things.
A high level of privacy and honesty.
Good at talking to people and getting along with them.
