Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is looking for a full-time Educational Assistant in High School grades 10-12.

Qualifications:

Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma

Non Violent Crisis Intervention training (NVCI) level A&B

Requirements:

Support students growth in the areas of cognition communication physical and social development

Support and/or implement teacher directed programming

Work collaborative under guidance of teacher CST and other member of the multi-disciplinary team

Implement specialist (OT PT SLP etc) strategies to achieve required goals

Implement behaviour management and educational strategies that facilitate student learning

Communicate effectively with students using age appropriate positive reinforcements and/or school specific behaviour strategies

Observe student behaviour with focus on achieving positive behavioural/educational outcomes and mitigate/prevent negative ones

Provide high level of structure to facilitate completion of required learning outcomes

Work and play at students physical level of their activities

Provide support in use of adaptive and learning technologies using a variety of devices and associated programs

Successful implement the Positive Behaviour Plan(PBP) if required

Able to work with students with emotional behavioural or other disabilities

Physically handle and transfer students when unsafe

Physical ability to lift and move students

Provide school directed indoor and outdoor student supervision

Employee is expected to work with behaviours related/associated with conduct obsessive/compulsive trauma and stress related severe chronic depressive feeding and/or eating disorders etc. Other behaviours related to ADHD emotional/behavioural learning and speech & language-related disabilities etc may be encountered.

All FMCSD employees must have on file a clear Criminal Reference and a Vulnerable Sector Check. All FMCSD employees are expected to be computer literate; this includes fluency with e-mail Internet and MS Office.
