Essential Functions:

The Secondary Academic Interventionist will collaborate with the general and special education staff to provide instructional intervention and services to eligible students. This includes but is not limited to:

  • One-to-one tutoring in ELA and Math
  • Providing differentiation and accommodation to curriculum for access for at-risk students
  • Credit Recovery
  • Provide reading and/or math intervention to flexible groupings of students
  • Find and identify students with intervention need within the school
  • Providing training to para educators which work in the Academic Center
  • Providing training to student peers
  • Connecting students with support and/or credit recovery options such as online curriculum
  • Provide intervention services in an inclusionary manner within the classroom
  • Attend required intervention professional development sessions and meetings
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with all school teams community stakeholders and administrators
  • Assist in the screening process and placement of students in the Title I and/or LAP program
  • Assist with the instructional direction of Paraeducators if applicable
  • Complete all program records on behalf of the school in an accurate and timely manner
  • Initiate and support activities for parents and teachers of participating students
  • Implement and support the Title I and/or LAP programs within grant guidelines and under the direction of building administrators and the Federal Programs Department

Qualifications:

  • Valid Washington Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements; Reading and/or Math endorsementexperience with MTSS and coaching preferred.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in providing instruction in reading and math using a variety of structures.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess students using a variety of methods and analyze results for intervention design.
  • Minimum three years recent and successful classroom teaching experience or three years recent and successful experience in providing intervention.
  • Prefer training and/or experience or willingness to take course work in the knowledge and use of effective instructional and management strategies to include:
    1. Teaching Learning Cycle and Assessment Driven Instruction
    2. Personalization and Workshop Model of Instruction
    3. Sheltered Instruction
    4. Multi-Tiered System of Supports
    5. Professional Learning Communities
    6. Positive Behavior Intervention Support
    7. Anti-bias multicultural experience and education
    8. Working with children and families who are culturally linguistically and racially diverse
