General Summary of Duties: At ENT Specialists of North Florida and Meier Plastic Surgery the Medical Front Office Specialist is responsible for various medical front office tasks including check in check out answering the phone scheduling appointments collecting payment and communicating with patients and staff. Essential Functions: (This list may or may not include all of the duties assigned) - Develop and maintain proficiency in the use of the Practice Management System.
- Greets patients in polite prompt helpful manner. Provides any necessary instructions/directions.
- Updates patient information provides any necessary forms needing completion and obtains signatures as necessary.
- Answers phones in pleasant manner and deals with patients needs expeditiously.
- Supplements office staff as reception tasks permit by assisting with photocopying computer input.
- Checking patients in and out
- Obtains authorizations referrals and verifies insurance eligibility.
- Schedules patient appointments as needed.
- Addressing patient conflicts and resolving them accordingly
- Knowledge of differences between PPO and HMO plans
Performance Requirements: - Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of reception tasks clinic policies procedures and paperwork. Knowledge of use of office equipment including telephones and computer. Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques. Skill in using office equipment satisfactorily and handing paperwork adequately. Skill in customer service principles by creating a pleasant waiting room atmosphere. Ability to communicate clearly in person and on the phone. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with patients families physicians staff and other customers. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively. Ability to read understand and follow oral written instructions. KEY COMPETENCIES: Excellent customer service and communication skills attention to detail adaptability problem solving decision-making confidentiality integrity and coachable. High school graduation or GED. Minimum of one year experience in customer service setting preferably six months receptionist experience in health care setting and experience with office equipment preferred.
