Position Details:

The Opportunity:

As the Assistant Director you will be part of the leadership team for the College of Agricultural Human and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS) Human Development at the Washington State University (WSU)Childrens Center. You will be responsible for managing the daily administrative operations of the center.

In collaboration with the Director ofWSUChildrens Center you will assist in the overall management of the Pullman campus Childrens Center. You will represent the Center on the Directors behalf helping to build relationships between parents center faculty and staff and college and university departments. You will provide administrative oversight in the Directors absence supervise and train staff ensure compliance with regulatory requirements oversee facility safety and perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Information:

This is a full time (100% FTE) temporary position. Overtime eligibility will be determined based on final salary placement.

This is a temporary position that is renewed on an annual basis. Appointment renewal is dependent continued funding and project needs.


Monthly Salary: $5935 - $6500 Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Positions require a Bachelors degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience which has included at least one (1) year of managerial experience. A Masters degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a yearforyear basis. Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment. Positions may require applicable licensure and/or certification.

  • Forty seven (47) credit hours of specialized college-level course work in early childhood education that encompasses child development and childrens learning from birth through kindergarten or Washington Early Childhood Education (ECE)State Certificate.

  • Demonstrated skills in budgeting programming licensing marketing public relations staffing and evaluating.

  • Satisfactory background check through the Washington Department of Children Youth and Families (DCYF) at time of hire .

  • Proof of measles (MMR) vaccination or other acceptable documentation as established by the Washington Department of Health and Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 43.216.690.

  • Negative tuberculosis (TB) test within previous 12 months in accordance with Washington Administrative Code (WAC) .
