Role Purpose

The role acts as a strategic partner to leaders managers and to the wider People Team. The role provides both operational and strategic advice and support across the full employee lifecycle enabling leaders to build high-performing engaged and capable teams. A People Partner plays a key part in shaping culture improving performance and ensuring people practices are compliant consistent and aligned to the businesses values and long-term goals.

The People Partner works both independently and as part of the wider People Team to understand how the People function supports employees and managers at different levels across the business all with the aim of delivering a personal and seamless people experience.

Role Responsibilities

  • Build effective relationships with Senior Managers across the business to understand the demands challenges and future plans and build robust people plans for each department
  • Work with departments to provide commercial and legally compliant solutions to all ER queries and problems
  • Develop a coaching approach to advising Managers on all people matters
  • Work with and build relationships with L&D Manager and Advisor to support client groups with any training needs and provide bespoke training interventions as appropriate
  • Work closely with the Talent Partners to identify top external talent to fill current and future vacancies
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of talent across departments and ensure that effective strategies are in place for both high and low performers
  • Ensure an effective on-boarding process is in place for all new starters reviewing regularly to be best in class
  • Complete regular checks in and exit interviews with employees and utilise analysed data to drive improvements to the HR service
  • Support the People Assistant; sharing best practice and role modelling behaviours
  • Formulate strategies for agile information sharing and communication with key populations; utilising feedback to generate new ways of meeting the needs of employees across all Business Units
  • Work with Head of to build on the current reward structure and strategy in order that packages are competitive
  • Support the annual compensation processes across the business specifically pay review and bonus.
  • Work with Senior Management to provide robust budget planning for departments liaising with Finance as appropriate
  • Produce and utilise key HR data and analytics to drive improvements and effective decision making
  • Work closely with other People Partners to ensure that a cohesive service is provided across all Business Units
  • Work closely with the wider HR team sharing information and contributing to wider team projects
  • Build and maintain close relationships with key stakeholders at Next and utilise to share best practice and projects
  • Oversee the payroll and HR services processes for Lipsy ensuring a high level of accuracy and communication
  • Take the lead on key projects which support the overall People strategy
  • Proven People partnering experience in a similar retail environment
  • A strong relationship builder with a supportive and flexible approach
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate both with individuals and the wider business
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence at a senior level

Role Requirements

  • Generalist - Broad generalist HR experience across all disciplines including employee relations policies and procedures performance management and organisational design
  • Collaboration and Partnering Skills -the ability to build strong and effective relationships and become a trusted partner and advisor across the business and within the People Team
  • Influencing - Strong influencing skills across different levels of the business
  • Commercial acumen - an ability to align people objectives with wider business objectives finding balance between the commercial approach and a people led approach
  • Organised and Agile - efficient in managing multiple priorities and projects as one time and navigating complex changes within a changing environment
  • Problem Solving - A down to earth flexible and agile approach to solving problems
  • Data driven -Confident in interpreting data and using insights to inform decision-making
  • IT Skills- Strong computer / excel / Google sheets skills
  • Literacy - Accurate literacy skills (primary language - English)
