About the role

We are on a quest to find a new junior digital accessibility consultant who is interested in making the digital world more inclusive and is keen to develop and grow their career. This is a remote role our preference is for candidates who are based in Australia but well also accept applicants from New Zealand if you think youre the perfect fit for this role. The role is for a 12-month full time contract with potential to extend. What you would be doing in the role will vary but some of the key responsibilities will include:

• Conduct assessments against WCAG 2.1 and WCAG 2.2 and accessibility best practice on multiple digital platforms (web and native mobile)
• Clearly describe issues and provide actionable recommendations on how to fix accessibility issues
• Work with organisations to help them pragmatically improve their accessibility maturity
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams including designers and developers to review and provide feedback on accessibility across the software development lifecycle
• Define project-specific accessibility requirements
• Champion digital accessibility

About you

We are looking for people with interesting backgrounds who can add to the extensive experience of our team. That said we still need you to have certain key skills such as

• Passion for digital accessibility and inclusive design
• Demonstrating an understand of assistive technologies such as JAWS NVDA VoiceOver or TalkBack
• Understanding of WCAG auditing on web and/or mobile will be an advantage
• Basic knowledge of WAI-ARIA HTML CSS and/or JavaScript
• An attention to detail with problem-solving skills that rivals Sherlock Holmes
• Good time management skills and must be a self-starter
• Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical audiences
• 1 year of experience in accessibility user experience or other related field is preferred but not required

The salary range for the role is $70000-$90000AUD plus superannuation (dependent on experience and location).
