IT Specialist Okinawa Japan Expected Start Date: January 2026
The Information Technology Specialist is responsible for the provision of technical and operational subject matter expertise within the Command Control Communications Computers and Intelligence (C41) Data Fusion Center (DFC) and shall provide C2TECOE technical services and subject matter expertise (SME) in support of Joint and Multi-lateral interoperability and continuity in application of new concepts training technology Command & Control (C2) systems and associated efforts. The position performs technical and analytical functions supporting the Maritime Common Operation Picture (COP) the Common intelligence Picture (CIP) and the Common Tactical Picture (CTP). The Information Technology Specialist will perform the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Develop and document installation operation integration and sustainment procedures for C2 Systems workstations network infrastructure and Virtual machine (VM) configurations residing at the MISTC site.
- Install configure maintain and operate network servers routers and switches. Ensuring device compliance with DOD Risk Management Framework and technical requirements.
- Implement access control lists on routers firewalls and other network devices.
- Manage network accounts network rights and access to MISTC systems and equipment.
- Provide end-user IT support for all MISTC operating systems and peripherals.
- Install test maintain and upgrade network operating systems software and hardware.
- Perform IT related customer support functions including installation configuration troubleshooting customer assistance and/or training in response to customer requirements.
- Research and provide recommendations for peripheral equipment computer network infrastructure equipment and supporting training technology to support the MISTC systems training environment.
- Maintain classrooms with latest versions of all USMC programs of record (POR) software.
- Information Assurance
- Apply cyber security procedures and safeguards.
- Be able to produce and monitor site accreditation packages.
- Conduct policy compliance.
- Implement response actions to security incidents.
- Implement directedsolutions to technical issues (configure operate and troubleshoot) affecting the C4I framework supporting the Command Operations Center (COC) to include the CTP infrastructure Command and Control Local Area Network (C2 LAN) and select software applications on DFC and COC systems.
- Provide daily operations and technical troubleshooting support for C2TECOE and C2 operations and exercises.
- Operate using the COP Synchronization Tools (CST) software application and other protocols and C2PC Gateways.
- Operate the Link Management and Monitoring Tool (LMMT).
- Operate Tactical Data Analysis & Connectivity System (TDACS).
- Update tracks on the COP and coordinate with IMEF II MEF III MEF and other echelons for any updated track inquiry.
- Perform coordination direction and execution of standing C2TECOE directives supporting the COP and C2 mission. Ensure integrity and availability of systems networks and data through monitoring and analysis for C2TECOE as required.
- Maintain critical components that expand the C2TECOE architecture.
- Provide comprehensive exercise planning support to include development of Curriculum Master Scenario Event List (MSEL) injects designed to test Data Fusion functions and program requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - High School Diploma required.
- Bachelors Degree Preferred.
- 2 years minimum experience in IT/Networking/Information Assurance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of military doctrine tactics and command relationships at MAGTF.
- Possess a thorough knowledge of MEF operations in relation to OPLANs/CONPLANS and exercise scenarios.
CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCIES Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities - Current CompTIA Security certification.
- CCNA Microsoft VMware or equivalent certificates desire.
- Advanced proficiency with groupware applications (SharePoint MS Teams) and the Microsoft Office suite (Word Power Point Excel etc.).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS - Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus.
SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS - Secret Security clearance is required for this position upon applying.
- Travel may be required.
- Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid drivers license current automobile insurance and a driving record that is acceptable to the companys auto insurance provider.
