The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivatedSenior Software Engineer / Architectto help drive the evolution ofAdobe Journey Optimizer (AJO). In this technical leadership role you will design and deliver the next generation of agentic features that empower our customers to create exceptional personalized experiences across billions of interactions a day! You will work with leadership to set the direction of the product drawing on your expertise in building high-throughput enterprise-grade solutions with a strong focus on performance reliability and innovation.

Journey Optimizer is an application built on Adobe Experience Platform that enables real-time orchestration and delivery of personalized digital experiences across all channels. It empowers brands to engage customers in the moments that matter by combining unified customer profiles intelligent decisioning and dynamic content to deliver contextually relevant experiences at scale.

What Youll Do

• Technical Ownership: Lead the architecture and implementation of core backend systems powering real-time customer journey orchestration.
• Innovation & Impact: Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to shape and rapidly deliver on a technical vision for efficiently addressing the most complex needs of our enterprise customers with easy-to-maintain solutions. Create differentiated value through effective application of AI and agentic technology.
• Engineering Excellence: Champion standard engineering practices in code quality testing observability and continuous integration/deployment.
• Operate at Scale: Support and scale the operation of large-scale globally distributed systems. Ensure high availability and low latency in enterprise environments.
• Mentorship & Collaboration: Mentor engineers at all levels lead design reviews and foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning across the team.
• Customer Focus: Work closely with business teams to understand user needs and translate them into robust technical solutions.

What You Need To Succeed

• Education: BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience: 12 years of experience building testing and operating complex backend software systems. Experience with AI/ML systems and enterprise software development is a strong plus.
• Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of modern software development practices distributed systems and cloud-native architectures. Proficiency inJava with expert knowledge ofstreaming architectures(e.g. Kafka)relational and NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB)containerized environments(e.g. Kubernetes) caching frameworksmicroservicesnetworkingand security. Hands on experience with agentic technologies.
• Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills and a data-driven mentality. Ability to break down complex problems and deliver elegant maintainable solutions.
• Operational Excellence: Demonstrated skill and enthusiasm for rigorous quality practices observability and incident response.
• Leadership Background: Experience and interest in technical leadership and project management.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts and influence across the org.
• Customer Empathy: A strong sense of ownership and a passion for building products that delight users.
• Industry Exposure: Experience building enterprise B2B or B2C products in the marketing automation analytics experimentation decisioning or personalization space is a plus.

At Adobe for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC base commission) and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
