About the Role

The Horse Farm Manager is responsible for the daily care of horses and farm animals overseeing barn operations and ensuring the highest standards of safety and animal welfare. This role works closely with the Program Manager to support therapeutic riding initiatives and serves as a key liaison for horse owners staff and volunteers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily horse care: feeding turnout stall cleaning grooming wound care and medication administration
  • Oversee barn operations: feeding schedules turnout bedding and facility upkeep
  • Schedule and coordinate veterinary and farrier visits
  • Monitor horse health and communicate with owners and professionals as needed
  • Assess and onboard boarding horses for therapeutic riding programs
  • Manage boarding contracts and serve as primary contact for horse owners
  • Maintain inventory and order feed hay supplements medications and supplies
  • Recruit train and schedule volunteers for barn support
  • Safely operate farm equipment (tractors mowers golf carts etc.)
  • Enforce barn safety standards and procedures
  • Collaborate with Program Manager on horse use availability and health updates

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 35 years of experience working with horses (boarding facility ranch or similar)
  • Formal training in equine management or animal care preferred
  • Strong horsemanship and horse care knowledge
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Leadership experience with staff and volunteers
  • Respect for individuals with disabilities and alignment with our mission
  • Integrity sound judgment and adaptability
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors year-round
  • Proficiency with light farm equipment and tools
  • Ability to meet our approved driver qualifications in order to drive your personal vehicle as required for program-related needs (minimum age of 21 and good driving history)
