The City of Baltimore (City) is seeking a Labor Relations Specialist to work in the Office of the Labor Commissioner (OLC). The OLC represents the Mayor in conducting all labor relations activities between the City of Baltimore and the labor organizations representing City employees. The OLC works in partnership with managers and supervisors labor leaders and their membership and employees to promote effective labor relations in the workplace. The OLC is also responsible for providing advice on and interpretation of each labor organizations contract (Memorandum of Understanding or MOU) with the City.
Essential Functions
Minimum Qualifications
Education:Have a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
AND
Experience:Have four (4) years of experience in labor relations.
OR
Equivalency Notes: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience. Substitution: Graduation from an accredited law school with one (1) year of experience may be considered in lieu of the experience guidelines. Background Check
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint screening and must be successfully completed.
Probation
All persons including current City employees selected for this position must complete a 6-month mandatory probation.
