Description

Under close supervision assists and participates in the receipt storage pick-up and delivery of supplies materials mail documents food and equipment. Assists in office and school relocations. Performs other duties as assigned.



Responsibilities

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Assists in the operation and maintenance of an assigned area within a storage facility. Organizesmaintainsandrotatesstock.Assistsinconductingphysicalinventoriesofstock. Keeps shelves and goods clean and orderly.
  • Assists in receiving items.Unloads vans trucks and trailers.Ensures the accurate receipt of items.Compares delivered items with invoices.Notes damages to goods received.Places stockeditemsintheirproperstoragelocations.Operatesmaterialhandlingequipmentsuchas forklifts and electric pallet movers.

  • Fills requisitions.Pulls organizes and prepares requisitioned items for delivery.Loads items ontovanstrucksandtrailers.Deliversandpicks-upsuppliesmaterialsinter-officemailfood and equipment throughout the BCPS system.Obtains proper signatures for deliveries.
  • Operatesstepvanslighttrucksautomobilesandothervehicles.Deliversandpicks-upitemson an assigned route.Inspects equipment returned from loan.Acts as asubstitutedriveras needed.
  • Movesfurniture andequipment.Providesassistancetodrivers.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Training and Experience:Possession of a high school diploma or an appropriate equivalent.(Experienceinwarehousingdistributionorarelatedfieldmaybesubstitutedona year-for-year basis for the required education.)

LicensesandCertificates:SomepositionsmayrequirepossessionofavalidclassCMaryland drivers license or an equivalent.

KnowledgeSkillsand Abilities:

  • Basicunderstandingofinventorypractices.Basicknowledgeofwarehousingand/ordistributionKnowledge of manual labor tasks.Skill in manual labor tasks.Skill in receiving and storing items.

  • Abilitytooperatematerialhandlingequipment.Abilitytocommunicateeffectively.Abilityto keep records of deliveries and the receipt of items.

PHYSICALANDENVIRONMENTALCONDITIONS:Theworkofthisclassentailsthe performance of heavy physical labor including frequent walking and standing working at heightsliftingandcarryingofobjectsofmoderatetoheavyweight(upto60pounds)andthe use of coordinative and manipulative skills in the operation of material handling equipment.

Dutiesrequireexposuretoawarehouseandshop environmentsthatincludeexposuretodust dirtchemicalsmachineryandequipment.Dutiesmayrequiretheoperationofautomobiles step vans and light trucks and travel throughout Baltimore County.

Citizenship residency or work VISA in United State required.

CONDITIONSOFEMPLOYMENT:Employeesmustsuccessfullycompleteinternaltraining programrelatedtotheoperationofequipment.Theemployeemustremaincompetenttooperate such equipment safely throughout their employment.

FLSA:Non-exempt

SALARY: $18.54 per hour (contractual)

    • All people employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools regular and temporary are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (per COMAR) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $109.
    • Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
