Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Director of Safety (or Safety Manager depending on experience) to support a large-scale data center construction project in Moncks Corner SC. This individual will oversee on-site safety efforts and manage a team of 8 direct-report safety professionals. The ideal candidate has proven leadership capabilities in high-volume construction environments and holds the required OSHA certifications. Flexibility to work nights or irregular shifts is required.
Assistant Director of Safety Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of 8 on-site safety professionals ensuring consistent enforcement of safety protocols across all shifts
- Oversee and support the implementation of the site-specific health and safety plan for a fast-paced high-profile data center construction project
- Conduct regular site audits inspections and safety walks to proactively identify and correct hazards
- Investigate incidents and near misses lead root cause analyses and recommend corrective actions
- Coordinate safety training toolbox talks and compliance education for all field staff and subcontractors
- Maintain all required safety records reports and documentation in accordance with OSHA and company requirements
- Collaborate closely with general contractors subcontractors and project leadership to foster a strong culture of safety and accountability
- Provide on-call or night shift coverage as needed to support 24/7 project operations
Assistant Director of Safety Requirements
- OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 certification required
- 5 years of safety experience on large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects; data center experience is a strong plus
- Prior experience managing or mentoring a safety team
- Excellent knowledge of federal and state OSHA regulations and industry best practices
