About the position
The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT seeks a Research Specialist to join the Food Environment and Consumer Behavior (FECB) - Performance Innovation and Strategic Analysis for Impact (PISA) team in Colombia. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring and research projects based on food systems and multifunctional landscapes collaborating in fundraising activities ensuring integration with public and private stakeholders and decision makers in compliance with research priorities and the FECB strategy and PISA in Latin America. This will be a join position reporting to FECB and PISA.
The position will be based in the operations center of the Americas located in the Campus of Palmira Colombia.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and ensure the timely delivery of research outputs within the FECB and PISA teams (specifically in Foresight and Applied Economics by overseeing research processes guiding team contributions and ensuring compliance with donor and organizational standards.
- Co-design workplans in a research project including activities and support in their management in concert with the global FECB and PISA programs strategy and priorities ensure research coordination and quality and timely delivery of results.
- Support stakeholder engagement (public and private) ensuring adequate involvement in all stages of research and projects as well as sharing of high quality research in a timely and understandable manner with key decision-makers on topics relevant to food environment markets and consumer behavior.
- Cooperates in managing local research partners engagement and contracts in countries of implementation.
- Facilitate or organize cross team research collaboration in the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT.
- Co-supervise and provide guidance to other team members and partners on research strategies projects and deliverables.
- Contribute to the preparation of research proposals and related fundraising activities.
Requirements
Qualifications and requirements
- Masters degree in Community Development Sociology Economics Geography Anthropology Political Science or a similar field with a strong record in market systems food systems consumer behavior and/or policy engagement.
- Scientific training and capacities in designing planning and implementing qualitative and quantitative social science research.
- Experience managing projects including reporting budget monitoring and relationships with partners and donors.
- Abilities and interests in engaging with and supporting international national or local stakeholders.
- Excellent written and spoken English and Spanish.

Terms of employment
This is a national recruited position placed at a BG08 on a scale of 14 levels with level 14 being the highest. This is a Colombian national search and will be managed through a fixed-term contract of one (1) year period subject to a probation period according to the local legislation and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources.
