The role of the Special Education Reading Specialist is to provide high quality instruction support and collaboration in order to produce high quality outcomes in the area of Reading and Literacy for the students in the Uxbridge Public Schools with disabilities. This position is considered hourly and a temporary/long-term substitute anticipated to start November 2025-January 2026The Reading Specialist provides and/or assists with the identification and evaluation for students during the evaluation of any student who may have a disability (in accordance with state/federal guidelines and as identified in district practice)implementation of a multi-sensory systematic reading program/curriculum that is grounded in an evidence-based methodology for students with identified disabilities in the applicable areas of concernestablishing individual reading goals for students including measurable benchmarks and methods of data collectionconsultation for special educators and general education teachers to implement additional supports in the classroomcollaborates with teachers in all departments to promote the learning and implementation of best practices in literacy instruction. creates and examines data to measure the success of literacy programs and instructionteach targeted literacy intervention to individuals or small groups of students daily using research-based strategies and student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate reading and writing intervention and support services as appropriate through collaboration with Team Chairs and building administrators. Other duties as assigned and applicable to the role.
