Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

Supervises and assists in the performance of maintenance and preventive maintenance of electrical fire alarms CCTV electronic security PA intercom and high voltage distribution systems and equipment.
Plans for electrical work including repairs to high voltage equipment and systems.
Reads blueprints and wiring diagrams and make material take-offs.
Requisitions materials and parts needed. Ensures completion of installation/repairs.
Make emergency repairs to electrical systems and equipment.
Performs on-the-job training for Inmates.
Participate in on-call rotation may require overtime work.

Must successfully complete four weeks (4) of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

(Or an acceptable equivalence as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

A high school diploma and 5 years professional experience in the construction or repair of institutional electrical systems.
