About the role:
This is a senior leadership role focused on driving educational reform in Madhya Pradesh working directly with the Department of Education.
The Lead will manage the entire project unit serving as the strategic connection between the organizations goals and state policy. We need a seasoned project Lead and effective leader who is a master at navigating complex government systems and building strong trusted relationships with senior officials.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Project Leadership & Execution:
- Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of all projects within the PMUs portfolio including strategic planning resource allocation execution monitoring and reporting.
- Develop comprehensive project plans detailed implementation roadmaps and robust Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) frameworks to track progress against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure all projects deliver measurable sustainable outcomes in the education sector and are fully aligned with the states vision and the organizations mission.
Government Liaison & Stakeholder Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact with the Department of Education and other relevant government bodies in Madhya Pradesh.
- Cultivate and maintain strong collaborative relationships with senior government officials and district-level administrators.
- Demonstrate a deep and nuanced understanding of government protocols communication hierarchies and decision-making processes to effectively navigate the governmental landscape.
- Manage meticulous donor reporting and documentation of all project activities and correspondence.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead mentor and build the capacity of the PMU team fostering a culture of high performance proactivity and continuous learning.
- Define clear roles and responsibilities and provide constructive feedback and professional development opportunities.
- Champion an agile work environment empowering the team to creatively adapt to changing priorities and overcome implementation challenges.
Communication & Documentation:
- Exhibit exemplary verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse internal and external audiences.
- Create and deliver high-quality compelling presentations reports and policy briefs for senior government officials and internal leadership.
Experience & Education:
- Educational Background: A relevant background in Public Policy Management Social Sciences or a related field is highly preferred.
- Total Experience: 8-10 years of overall professional experience.
- Leadership Experience (Mandatory): At least 3-5 years in a leadership role managing a Project Management Unit (PMU) or similarly large-scale multi-stakeholder projects.
- Government Experience (Mandatory): Significant and proven experience working directly with government bodies preferably within the Department of School Education.
Skills & Attributes:
- Project Management: Excellent proven project execution skills.
- Interpersonal Acumen: Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build and maintain trust with senior officials and partners.
- Leadership Style: A dynamic and proactive leader capable of navigating ambiguity anticipating challenges and taking initiative in a fast-paced environment.
