Yosemite Pathology (YP) is a private independent pathologist owned and operated surgical pathology and cytology laboratory based in Modesto CA. YP provides comprehensive state of the art reliable and accurate diagnostic services to its physicians and major area hospitals in the Alameda Amador Calaveras Contra Costa Kern Mariposa Merced San Joaquin Solano Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties.
YP offers a full spectrum of tissue pathology cytology and histology services including examination of gynecologic specimens body fluids and fine needle aspiration specimens. We also offer an extensive array of special stains and immunohistochemistry to assist in the management of oncologic and non-oncologic diseases. The laboratory is supported by highly qualified Histotechnologist Cytotechnologist Technicians and office staff who offer excellent service.
Summary/Objective
The IHC Histology Technician is responsible for cutting staining and preparing tissue samples for the pathologist to review. They are also responsible for prioritizing testing procedures and completing those procedures in an accurate and timely manner and maintaining proper accurate records of all tests done in accordance with established policies procedures and regulations.
Shift: Sunday - Thursday 9:00 pm - 6:30 am
Essential Functions
- Retrieving correct blocks for any request from Pathologist.
- Retrieving any slides for Pathologist.
- Distribute all stained slides to correct Pathologist/Hospital.
- Titer concentrated antibodies.
- Operation and maintenance of all IHC instrumentation.
- Microtomy and IHC staining of all same day requests.
- Process same day STAT requests for all hospitals.
- QC slides from same day STAT requests.
- Ensure adequate stock of controls.
Job Requirements and Skills
- 2 - 4 years of Immunohistochemistry (IHC) experience.
- ASCP Certified Histotechnologist preferred
- Associates degree supplemented with one to three years of experience in a clinical setting preferred
- Basic knowledge of biology and medical terminology
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Knowledge of handling chemicals and biohazardous materials
- Skill in communication and collaborating both orally and in writing
- Ability to effectively troubleshoot and problem solve issues
- Ability to work independently or in small or large groups
- General knowledge of good laboratory practices and aseptic technique
- Prioritize with a high emphasis on quality while working in a high-pressure data driven department in a fast-paced environment
Compensation and Benefits
- The compensation is $47840 $ 62400 annually (non-exempt) paid semi-monthly on an eight (8) hour per day forty (40) hour per week. Final salary offer subject to multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise geographic location of the role and current market data.
