- Develop cost estimates:Calculate the total cost of a project including materials labor equipment and overhead.
- Analyze project data:Review blueprints technical documents and project specifications to identify all costs involved.
- Collaborate with stakeholders:Work with clients architects engineers and contractors to gather information and align on project goals and costs.
- Prepare bids:Compile cost data for bids and proposals to help secure new projects.
- Monitor project costs:Track spending during the project lifecycle and identify potential overruns or budget deviations.
- Identify cost savings:Propose and analyze cost-saving alternatives and value engineering ideas to optimize project budgets without compromising quality.
- Manage risk:Analyze potential project risks such as material shortages or delays and help develop mitigation strategies.

- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with cost-estimating software is often required especially in construction.
