Summary:
We are seeking experienced and detail-oriented Machinists. This role is critical to ensuring precision quality and efficiency in the production of components and finished goods across various industries. Machinists are responsible for setting up operating and maintaining a range of manual and automated machinery to cut shape and finish materials such as metal wood plastics and textiles. The position demands technical expertise adherence to strict safety and quality standards and a strong commitment to continuous improvement. Success in this role contributes directly to operational excellence product reliability and on-time delivery.
Responsibilities:
Interpret job sheets engineering drawings and technical specifications to guide machining processes
Prepare raw materials and set up machines for production ensuring correct tooling and alignment
Operate a variety of machinery including lathes milling machines grinders CNC systems presses and industrial woodworking or sewing equipment
Monitor machine performance during operation and make real-time adjustments to maintain accuracy and efficiency
Conduct thorough inspections of finished parts using precision measuring tools to verify dimensions tolerances and quality
Perform routine maintenance cleaning and minor repairs on tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance
Comply with all workplace health safety and environmental regulations at all times
Collaborate effectively with team members supervisors and other departments to meet production goals and deadlines
Requirements
Requirements:
Trade qualification formal apprenticeship or equivalent training in machining manufacturing or a related field
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a production workshop or manufacturing environment
Proven experience operating CNC machinery or other specialized equipment is highly desirable
Strong technical aptitude and ability to work with tight tolerances and precision measurements
Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail
Physically capable of standing for extended periods and handling heavy materials safely
Demonstrated commitment to safety with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks
Effective communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced production setting
Valid English language certification (PTE / IELTS) is mandatory

Work environment typically includes workshops factories or production floors; conditions may vary by industry
Exposure to noise dust sharp tools chemicals and repetitive motions is common
Flexibility to work shifts overtime or weekends as required by production demands
Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves eye/ear protection and respiratory masks where applicable
Benefits
Indicative pay: Starting from NZD $31.61 per hour (as per INZ median wage requirement)
