Job Title: Community Response Outreach Coordinator
Location: Albuquerque NM Las Cruces NM or Santa Fe NM (Hybrid flexibility)
Reports To: Immigration Legal Services Practice Director
Position Overview
The Community Response Outreach Coordinator will lead NMILCs efforts to strengthen and streamline systems of immigration legal services needs and gaps among community partners legal service providers and agencies across New Mexico. This position will identify emerging needs assess community and organizational capacities and support coordination for a network of response strategies that center immigrant justice and equitable access to legal support. This position will support information sharing among providers and focus on legal services family protection and asset protection planning and other projects that support the community during this time. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of New Mexicos community landscape strong relationship-building skills and the ability to manage systems and projects across diverse organizational sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Community and Needs Assessment
- Identify and analyze response needs within immigrant and mixed-status communities statewide.
- Map out and maintain a catalog of NM and El Paso TX organizations their areas of expertise and available capacities.
- Maintain and regularly update internal databases of partner organizations and service networks.
- Prepare and present to community groups and partner organizations on services available through NMILC and the statewide hotline
Collaborative Network Development
- Facilitate collaboration among nonprofits private firms public agencies and other formations to improve service coordination.
- Bridge communication and partnership gaps between different organizational types and cultures.
- Represent NMILC in coalition meetings emergency response efforts and cross-sector initiatives.
- Focus on increasing collaboration with rural partners and consider creative solutions to address the gap in direct services in rural NM
Program and Systems Management
- Develop and manage sub-projects that strengthen community response infrastructure.
- Implement systems to monitor capacity resource availability and evolving legal and community needs.
- Track program milestones and ensure deliverables are met on schedule.
- Support Immigration Legal Services Practice Director with tasks related to program coordination and administration assessing team needs and development of presentations and internal training materials
- Coordinate and collaborate with Policy and Partnerships Teams to identify and support advocacy opportunities
Legal and Advocacy Support Coordination
- Assist in triaging community and individual inquiries that come through NMILCs reception channels ensuring they are properly routed or referred.
- Collaborate with staff attorneys and advocates to ensure coordinated representation and resource allocation.
- Contribute to policy and advocacy strategies connected to NMILCs mission.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree
- 3-5 years professional experience in a New Mexico nonprofit or state agency.
- Preference for prior experience in a legal law-adjacent or policy setting.
- Fluency in English required preference for proficiency in Spanish.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation for travel.
- Willingness to travel as needed within New Mexico and the El Paso area for purposes such as networking collaboration with partners and training.
- Demonstrated understanding of New Mexicos immigrant legal and social service landscapes.
- Proven ability to build and sustain strategic partnerships across nonprofit private and public sectors.
- Strong systems-thinking and program management skills; experience managing multiple projects or initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent communication facilitation and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable navigating and bridging organizational differences to achieve common goals.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently including in high-volume or crisis situations
- Commitment to NMILCs mission of advancing justice and equity for immigrants in New Mexico
Salary and Benefits
This is a full-time position. Salary is competitive for our field and geographic area and is commensurate with experience. Starting salary for the Community Response Coordinator position is $65000 with upward adjustments for additional years of relevant experience.
NMILC currently offers a generous benefits package including;
100% of Individual Employee Health Premium paid by NMILC for the Base Plan and 50% for dependents. Buy-up Plan also available.
Access to a 401K plan and discretionary employer match up to 10% of base salary (determined each fiscal year based on funding projections);
Optional Flexible Spending Account for pre-tax funds for medical and/or dependent care cost.
