Job Summary

Position Summary: The Job Coach supports individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI) spinal cord injury (SCI) and those receiving workers compensation rehabilitation in achieving success in vocational settings. This position focuses on developing workplace skills fostering independence and providing on-the-job coaching to help participants reach their employment goals. The Job Coach collaborates with the vocational counselor and rehabilitation team to ensure participants are progressing toward the objectives outlined in their individualized vocational plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on job coaching and workplace training to participants in community-based or program-based work settings.
  • Teach and reinforce workplace skills such as punctuality communication following directions problem-solving and teamwork.
  • Support participants in learning job tasks and meeting employer expectations.
  • Encourage independence by gradually reducing direct support as participants build confidence and competence.
  • Document participant progress work performance and any challenges reporting regularly to the vocational counselor.
  • Provide feedback coaching and positive reinforcement to promote success in the workplace.
  • Assist participants with job-seeking activities when applicable including resume support applications and interview practice.
  • Communicate effectively with employers supervisors and team members to ensure successful placements and positive outcomes.
  • Model appropriate workplace behavior and act as a professional role model for participants.
  • Advocate for reasonable accommodations and support self-advocacy among participants.
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with program policies and funding requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in human services Rehabilitation Education or related field; OR High school diploma/GED with at least two (2) years of experience as a Job Coach or in a vocational rehabilitation workforce development or day treatment program.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferably TBI or SCI strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal coaching and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to motivate and support individuals toward independence and success in the workplace.
  • Basic knowledge of workplace accommodations and vocational rehabilitation principles preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to community job sites as needed.

Working Conditions:

  • Community and workplace settings (may vary by participant placement).
  • Flexible schedule may be required to meet the needs of participants and employers.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand walk bend and assist participants in performing job-related tasks.
  • May involve occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs)
