JOB SUMMARY
The Manager Inventory Accounting is responsible for all inventory-related accounting matters; responsible for the reconciliation between the Inventory Stock Ledger and General Ledger. Ensure in-transit inventory and associated costs are properly reported and closely with cross-functional counterparts in distribution center and supply chain functions to develop and maintain policies and processes to handle new or existing transaction streams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Analyze inventory reserves and recommend required reserves in accordance with policy including shortage analysis lower of cost or market excess and obsolescence markdowns and returns reserve.
Analyze month end inventory balances compared to history and budget and follow up on unusual variances.
Identify internal control gaps related to inventory and recommend improved controls to mitigate financial accounting risk.
Monitor the subsequent implementation of such controls for effectiveness.
Assist with preparation of various audit and financial statement schedules as it relates to all inventory matters.
Interface with outside auditors during interim reviews and annual audits.
Create and maintain procedural documentation for inventory accounting to comply with internal control requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
6-8 years managing inventory accounting and systems preferably in a public multi-location/retail company with at least two years supervisory experience.
Must have strong understanding of detail mapping and transactional inventory process flows.
Knowledge of various inventory methods
Knowledge of weighted average costing
Inventory systems expertise including requirements definition implementation and maintenance of automated systems including interfaces to general ledger and 3-way match software practices and procedures
Experience with JDA and SAP preferred
A strong understanding of US GAAP and accounting pertaining to sales inventory COGS and margin analysis.
Proven leadership and cross-functional teamwork skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced multi-tasking deadline-driven environment
CPA preferred
Big 4 experience a plus
