HVAC Project Manager Summary
A leading commercial mechanical contractor is seeking an HVAC Project Manager for their growing Wilmington NC operations. This individual will take on a hybrid role that combines project management with estimating and business development responsibilities. This is a high-visibility opportunity for someone who understands mechanical systems thrives in client-facing environments and is eager to grow into a future leadership role as the Wilmington division expands. A company vehicle is provided and while field site visits are expected this role will have more office-based work compared to similar roles.
HVAC Project Manager Responsibilities
- Manage HVAC construction projects from kickoff to closeout including scheduling labor coordination materials procurement and client communication
- Perform takeoffs assist in mechanical estimating and generate scopes and budgets for proposed work
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities in the Wilmington market in collaboration with leadership and estimators in Raleigh
- Build and maintain relationships with general contractors vendors and prospective clients to support long-term pipeline growth
- Support project and business development initiatives including networking proposal development and preconstruction meetings
- Ensure safety quality control and adherence to project specifications throughout the project lifecycle
- Coordinate with field foremen and office teams to ensure smooth project execution and accurate documentation
- Participate in weekly project planning meetings and labor forecasting
HVAC Project Manager Requirements
- 7 years of HVAC project management experience in commercial construction; prior estimating or sales experience is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems (hydronic VRF ductwork controls) and mechanical drawings
- Ability to interact professionally with GCs clients and field personnel; strong communication and organizational skills are essential
- Experience with project software tools (e.g. Autodesk Construction Cloud Excel) and ability to quickly learn internal systems
- Bachelors degree in construction management mechanical engineering or similar field highly preferred
