Job Summary

Reporting to the Dean School of Nursing the Assistant Professor of Nursing is a 10-month non-tenure track position. This position plays a vital role in delivering high-quality nursing education through classroom laboratory and clinical instruction. This contract-based position emphasizes teaching excellence and service with limited research responsibilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

Essential duties:

Teaching and Instruction

Provide high-quality student-centered instruction to the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs encompassing classroom laboratory and clinical learning environments.
Collaborate with faculty to design implement and evaluate nursing curricula and learning experiences.
Develop course syllabi exams assignments and instructional materials including digital and audiovisual content.
Assess student performance through grading feedback and competency evaluations.
Provide academic advisement and schedule conferences to discuss their progress and support student success.
Oversee students in clinical environments to ensure safe patient care and foster clinical decision-making skills.

Service and Administration

Participate in faculty meetings curriculum planning and selection of course materials.
Serve on departmental school or university committees as assigned.
Partner with faculty staff and clinical site personnel to maintain a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
Promote a culture of equity inclusion and academic freedom fostering a welcoming environment for all students and colleagues.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Develop and deliver continuing education programs.
Promote interprofessional education and collaborative learning experiences.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned or directed to support departmental needs and align with the mission of the School of Nursing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

Masters degree in Nursing (MSN).
Active RN license and eligibility for licensure in Pennsylvania.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a registered nurse.

Preferred:

Doctoral degree (DNP or PhD).
Experience in clinical nursing education.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:

Evening teaching assignments may be required.
