Job Summary

Compensation Range: $24.00/hr - $26.00/hr commensurate with experience

Overview:

The Harm Reduction Drop-In Manager (HRDI) will coordinate the delivery of essential harm reduction services during operation hours. This manager should have very good understanding and experience of best practices in the social services field. This includes providing guidance to program staff on how to engage and motivate marginalized populations to wellness and the reduction of harm This manager coordinates delivers and supports services provided to program participants during operation hours.

This staff member should be a resource for program staff during operation hours. This includesthe development of resources for program participants coordination and delivery of overdose prevention training and Narcan dispensation as well as supportive counseling services. The HRDI Manager tracks and supervises services delivered by Harm Reduction staff during drop-in operations in addition to Quality Assessment of service entry into databases. This staff will also provide orientation ongoing training and professional development support to drop-in staff members. This position assists clients to navigate all services within the Harm Reduction department.

Responsibilities:

Primary:

  • Provide supervision and oversight to a team of 7-8 harm reduction staff. This would include weekly supervision meetings follow-up on program incidents develop and implement appropriate or required trainings oversee workflows of the extended hours team and provide support or address challenges as needed.
  • Oversee the training services and documentation of Harm Reduction Specialists during evening and weekend hours.
  • Oversees stipend workers direct service delivery and training as needed.
  • Create weekly schedule of staff and peer support and update with call outs or program changes.
  • Able to navigate participants issues including deescalate situations in the moment and follow-up with clients and staff on incidents that occur during these hours.
  • Proficiently document incidents and activities that interfere with day-to-day operations during evening and weekend hours.
  • Assesses and investigates and concludes incident reports as needed.
  • Able to conduct daily syringe exchange transactions and other safe use supplies.
  • Provide program participants with referrals care coordination and follow up as needed.
  • Engages participants with individual and group counseling sessions.
  • Educates target populations on Harm Reduction and agency wide services.
  • Coordinates the provision of HIV and Hepatitis rapid testing and counseling services. Coordinates referrals as needed.
  • Maintains communication with Health Services staff for the successful coordination of medical and psychiatric services.
  • Assists clients on referral and care coordination efforts and services initiated by other harm reduction and medical staff.
  • Participate in case conference meeting as needed.
  • Generates monthly narrative and data reports for evening and Saturday services.

Secondary:

  • Works with data entry staff to coordinate that all data and services get properly recorded and audit ready.
  • Coordinates the escort of participants to service within or outside the agency as needed.
  • Organize and participate in quality assurance and quality improvement projects and activities as directed by the Managing Director.
  • Participate in monthly staff and peer worker development meetings.
  • Minimum of a bachelors degree and case management experience preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in Human services preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience with the Harm Reduction populations.
  • Experience with group facilitation.
  • Knowledge of Hepatitis HIV and STIs care coordination and education.
  • Able to provide clear and consistent directives and communication to staff
  • Able to work with diverse populations and culturally aware.
  • Good verbal written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Use of computer software --Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Outlook calendaring and Excel. Experienced working with AIRS EShare and ECW helpful.
  • Culturally aware and sensitive to PWUD (People Who Use Drugs) PLWHA (People Living with HIV/AIDS) LGBTQAI YIDU (Young Intravenous Drug Users) SMI (Severe Mental Illness) and MSM (Wen who have Sex with Men)

  • Significant knowledge of health-related issues faced by injection drug users including awareness of injection drug user networks norms and culture.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of the homelesspopulation including families.
  • Havestrong organizationalinterpersonal verbal and written communicationskills.
  • Experience conducting and facilitating educational training is preferred.
  • Self-directed motivated andable towork independently and as part of a team.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English helpful.
  • Frequently remaining in a stationary position often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Occasionally moving around to additional worksites
  • Occasionally lifting and moving objects up to 25 pounds in ordinary office related tasks.
