Office Location: 224 West Hill Street Suite 410 Chicago IL; required in-office minimum of 3 days per week (hybrid work policy subject to change)

Who We Are Looking For:

NAMI Chicago is seeking a dynamic Manager of Crisis Intervention Training to lead the design and implementation of impactful human-centered trainings that equip learners with the skills and knowledge to effectively and safely respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises. While law enforcement audiences are a priority this role also delivers training across sectors including public safety and emergency services.


This person will play a pivotal role in managing operations maintaining training quality providing training and maintaining relationships with external partners. The ideal candidate brings a passion for mental health education and experience managing training programs within crisis intervention that bridge systems communities and care.


Key Responsibilities:


Training Design & Facilitation

Deliver trauma-informed equity-rooted training to diverse professional audiences including but not limited to law enforcement emergency response teams and community service providers.

Facilitate interactive components such as role play and scenario-based learning to enhance learning outcomes and emotional intelligence providing feedback and emotional support as needed.

Train and support a group of facilitators and co-trainers ensuring preparedness ongoing development and morale.

Collaborate with leadership to continually improve content and methodology ensuring trainings reflect current best practices in mental health de-escalation and community engagement.

Support the development of training guides and operational manuals.


Program Operations & Quality

Oversee scheduling logistics and communication for assigned training programs.

Track training outcomes and staff participation resolve logistical issues and support real-time problem-solving.

Maintain a robust system for coverage of storytellers actors or trainers in case of last-minute cancellations.

Supervise quality assurance for assigned training content.

Generate reports proposals and internal documentation for grant reporting stakeholder updates and internal evaluation.

Provide clinical support to a small caseload of individuals and families who have direct experience with utilization of crisis response systems.


Stakeholder Engagement

Build and sustain trusted relationships with partners such as the Chicago Police Department the Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) and other workforce agencies.

Work collaboratively with internal staff including leadership the Project Coordinator Finance Integration and Program Evaluation to support reporting documentation recruitment and billing.

Attend standing meetings and leadership check-ins with internal and external stakeholders to ensure training program alignment and performance.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Masters degree in Social Work Education Psychology Counseling Public Health or other related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in adult education workforce development public safety mental health or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing or managing training initiatives in large systems or cross-sector settings.
  • Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills; comfort presenting to law enforcement or similar audiences.
  • Proficient in managing logistics and reporting for large-scale training operations.
  • Familiarity with principles of trauma-informed care systems-awareness and de-escalation techniques.
  • Experience working with or alongside individuals with lived experience of mental illness or trauma.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite and virtual collaboration tools such as Zoom and Teams.
  • Available to work occasional evenings or weekends and travel throughout Cook County.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of public safety systems or emergency management.

Salary Range: $60000 - $70000 per year
