Job Summary

We are currently seeking a full-time Director of Construction to join our Central Office Team. The preferred applicant must have experience in managing and working with multiple teams across a wide geographic footprint of facilities. Additionally having knowledge of HUD policies and procedures governing subsidized elderly housing and physical standards including experience working with the elderly nonprofit or the property management experience is a plus.

Providence Community Housing is a 501(c)3 nonprofit affordable housing developer and property manager serving the Greater New Orleans area. With almost 20 years of development experience and over 1700 residential units developed to date Providence has taken over the property management functions of Christopher Homes Inc. and is proud to add their 60-year history of excellence to our team managing over 2400 senior affordable apartments. We focus on the production and preservation of affordable housing and empowering strong communities.

The Director of Construction provides strategic oversight and support to property-based management and maintenance teams to ensure successful physical operations of properties. This position also supports Real Estate Development from preconstruction review through active construction administration attending draw meetings monitoring site progress and ensuring quality compliance and alignment with organizational standards for new developments and rehabilitations. The Director of Construction also oversees capital projects at operating facilities in coordination with Property Management and if appropriate Asset Management and/or Real Estate Development to ensure effective planning execution and turnover.

A typical day in the life of the Director of Construction includes but not limited to providing ongoing guidance and assistance to maintenance and property management teams at various sites ensuring efficient operations and effective issue resolution; Developing and implement preventive maintenance programs to prolong the life of assets and reduce costly repairs. Coordinate efforts with Asset Management to ensure effective budgeting and advance planning; Maintain or assist site-based teams in maintaining accurate physical records of building inspections work orders and property condition assessments for compliance and reporting purposes.

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:

Experience managing and working with multiple teams across a wide geographic footprint of facilities.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; PDF software. Experience with YARDI a plus.

Detail-oriented with strong analytical interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work independently as well as lead develop team members to increase capacity and mission impact.

Has a passion for working with seniors and creating a positive supportive environment.

Maintains a professional compassionate and welcoming attitude towards managers co-workers residents and visitors.

Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Is dependable adaptable and ready to handle occasional on-call responsibilities.

This is a full-time position in office typically Monday through Friday.
