A growing commercial mechanical contractor is seeking an HVAC Project Manager to join their team in Raleigh NC. This position offers a high-impact opportunity to take ownership of complex commercial and healthcare construction projects within a collaborative field-driven environment. Ideal candidates will have strong experience managing HVAC installations excellent communication skills and the ability to lead project execution from planning through closeout. This is a full-time in-person role with substantial time spent in the field (50%) and comes with a company vehicle and competitive compensation.
HVAC Project Manager Responsibilities
- Lead all phases of HVAC construction projects including planning budgeting scheduling and field coordination to ensure timely and high-quality delivery
- Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams clients general contractors vendors and field crews maintaining clear and proactive communication
- Track job progress and costs regularly flagging potential delays or issues early and assisting with change orders and billing as needed
- Manage labor and material resources effectively including coordinating sheet metal and piping crews and verifying timely delivery of materials
- Conduct weekly site visits to ensure quality of installation aligns with drawings specifications and code requirements; maintain in-house punch lists
- Participate in weekly meetings with field staff to forecast labor needs and maintain accurate two-week lookahead schedules
- Support hiring training and performance evaluations of field staff in collaboration with supervisors
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and escalate concerns to the safety manager as needed
- Assist in job closeout documentation and provide client support throughout the warranty period
HVAC Project Manager Requirements:
- 5 years of HVAC project management experience in commercial construction (mechanical contractor experience
preferred)
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems including hydronic piping sheet metal refrigerant piping and controls
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering construction management or similar field preferred
