The Centre for eResearch (CeR) is a university platform that provides digital research and AI capabilities across Waipapa Taumata Rau the University of Auckland. Our mission is to develop and apply computer and information technologies to research and then help researchers across the whole University to effectively use them.
We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable people whose skills and interests will complement our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate enjoys interacting with researchers working in a dynamic team environment and learning new skills. Te Whiwhinga mahi The opportunity
Were looking for a self-motivated person with a broad understanding of a research-led university environment and experience supporting researchers across the university community. You will bring skills and passion from areas such as domain research data science and analytics research data management and researcher development and outreach. Ideally you will also have experience with research programming languages (e.g. Python R) digital data and computational skills (e.g. Linux managing virtual machines) and working with sensitive data.
Ngā Haepapa Matua Key Responsibilities (not limited too):
- A practical understanding of research data management;
- A proactive and collaborative approach to communicating services to researchers effectively across different modes of delivery;
- A reliable and detail-oriented approach to contributing to the organisation development and delivery of researcher skills across our programme; and
- A demonstrable desire to work collaboratively to deliver and improve eResearch/digital research and AI services to support researchers
In this role you will work in partnership with colleagues to proactively engage with the entire research communityresearch staff postgraduates and those who support themto raise awareness and encourage the use of digital research and AI technologies and tools including CeR services. You will advocate for and enable researchers to manage their data and code according to best practices such as reproducibility and the FAIR and CARE data principles through data consultations and outreach activities. You will undertake engagements at all levels from one-on-one meetings with individual researchers to large faculty meetings or groups of service providers to design deliver and embed new services.
The role is a full-timepermanent role (37.5 hours per week) with a start date of January 2026
The remuneration is $83300 - $97979 per annum dependent on skills and experience.

Youll bring strong communication skills a service-focused mindset and the ability to engage effectively with a diverse academic audience. Youll have:
- A postgraduate qualification (or equivalent experience) in Science IT or a related discipline.
- 25 years experience working with research data software development or eResearch services.
- Demonstrated experience engaging and supporting researchers to adopt digital or computational practices.
- Technical knowledge in one or more areas such as web or cloud development (e.g. Angular Springboot) research data management R/R-shiny Jupyter GIS or machine learning.
- Experience delivering training or workshops and an understanding of effective pedagogical approaches for digital skills development.
