Software Development Manager, Amazon Shopping Video

Amazon Shopping Videos (ASV) is one of the newest and fastest growing strategic programs at Amazon. We are creating an innovative live video streaming and video on demand shopping experience that helps millions of customers find product inspiration through video learn more about products they are interested in and interact with great creators and their communities every day across the globe.

The ideal manager for this role will be an independent thinker who makes convincing data-driven decisions to serve our customers and advertisers. The ideal candidate will devise clear strategy positioning and execution priorities and will be comfortable thinking big and diving deep on technical aspects. They must be comfortable working with complex challenges and working with engineering product other stakeholders internationally. They will also be an expert in building and developing high performance teams.

Key job responsibilities
* You will work with business teams world-wide to define organization roadmaps for brands advertisers and creators/influencers.
* drive execution of projects ability to provide updates on projects and drive operational excellence initiatives for the team
* You will build and lead an engineering team towards achieving a focused mission
* You will work in a high volume environment and will be required to lead not only at the strategic level but also tactically day-to-day by diving deeply into business and technical domains

- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
