Job Summary
The Opportunity
Were currently looking for a Financial Accounting Manager to join our Polestar Nordic finance team to manage the accounting and financial reporting functions across the Nordic region. This role is part of the Nordic management team and reports to the CFO Nordic.
The position is based in Gothenburg Sweden with limited travel required. We believe in a hybrid working model balancing remote and onsite work recognising the value of both in-person collaboration and focused individual time. What matters most is that people have the time and support to do what needs to be doneand to enjoy doing it of course.
The Responsibilities
In this role you will manage our outsourced accounting partner and oversee day-to-day accounting activities acting as the link between the region accounting and controlling teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and overseeing accounting operations including billing accounts receivable/payable general ledger and inventory
- Leading reviewing and approving activities related to the close processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness in coordination with internal teams (Group Accounting Tax etc.)
- Developing and implementing policies procedures and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance
- Preparing and presenting financial statements reconciliations reports and analyses to senior leadership
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards tax regulations and all relevant legal requirements
- Managing partnerships with external auditors tax/regulatory authorities and vendors
- Driving process improvements and leveraging technology to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Leading mentoring and developing the accounting team fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement
The Ideal Candidate
Were looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and communicates with confidence across all levels. Youll enjoy diving into accounting queries resolving complex issues and responding to questions with a keen eye for detail. This role involves working cross-functionally with internal teams and managing relationships with external stakeholders so interpersonal skills are key.
Although this isnt a line management position were seeking someone who brings leadership qualities who can coordinate effectively and influence outcomes both within the team and externally.
In addition youll need the following:
- A bachelors degree in accounting finance or a related field
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Proven experience managing and collaborating across shared service teams ensuring high-quality performance and effective partnerships
- Deep knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and financial reporting
- Experience working in a U.S.-listed company environment with a strong understanding of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and other regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with dealership management systems is a plus
