DSHS BHHA Direct Care Provider Lead - Attendant Counselor 3

Are you ready to support people with developmental disabilities in living empowered safer lives The State Operated Community Residential (SOCR) program within the Behavioral Health & Habilitation Administration (BHHA) has an opportunity for a Direct Care Provider Lead - Attendant Counselor 3 located in Spokane WA.

This position acts under the supervision of higher-level Attendant Counselors (ACMs) and/or via the direction of other individuals with specific professional qualifications. The individual in this position functions as the designated shift charge for assigned clients within SOCR programs participates in the development of and execution of clients Individual Instruction and Support Plans (IISPs) habilitative goals training and independent living skills and provides active treatment assistance and ensures the safety of persons with developmental disabilities both in the client home and in the
community.

Additional Information:

  • The anticipated schedule for this position is Thursday - Monday 3pm - 11pm(Tuesday/Wednesday as regular days off)
  • Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary
  • Evening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate

Some of what youll do:

  • Provide specialized care support and training for SOCR clients in compliance with each clients care plans
  • Give verbal and written feedback/coaching monitors staff and ensures that care is provided according to each clients care plan and other care directives
  • Assists clients with activities of daily living in such areas as hygiene dressing grooming meal preparation leisure skills community awareness safety and money management providing clients in all areas of their lives
  • Transfer reposition transport (move) clients about the community home at times utilizing a wheelchair for particular clients assigned to them
  • Use and move equipment such as mechanical lifts
  • Acts as lead trainer with new staff working in the home
  • Immediately inform the ACM of any personnel issues that arise
  • Provides feedback to ACM for completion of annual AC2 Performance Evaluations
  • Ensures all pertinent care health safety and environment issues are communicated timely and to the appropriate people
  • Maintain adequate staffing on all homes during designated hours
  • Maintain client confidentially
  • Responsible for maintaining updates to PPE and house supplies ensuring staff have adequate supplies available to them
  • Responsible for ensuring that basic household maintenance and cleaning is completed
  • Other duties as assigned

Who should apply

Professionals with a high school diploma or GED AND two years of experience working with people whoexperience developmental disabilities physical disabilities and/or mental health challenges.

OR

Two years of experience as an Attendant Counselor 1 equivalent or higher-level state class.

OR

Equivalent education/experience.

Additional knowledge skills and abilities we are looking for:

  • Ability to support staff carrying out 1:1 or 2:1 staffing and the ability to directly implement 1:1 staffing with assaultive clients
  • Ability to communicate effectively to staff to provide clear feedback train mentor or coach
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding and competence in all aspects of Therapeutic Options training in daily work assignments
  • Ability to listen to instructions and/or read instructions assimilate the information and act according to those instructions
  • Ability to implement individualized programs plans and services that are designed to maintain skills and facilitate independence and carry out prescribed programs as daily schedules require or as written
  • Ability to collect and record data as indicated in the IISP
  • Ability to implement individualized behavioral support plans and apply sophisticated training techniques
  • Ability to use core ASL signs to communicate with nonverbal clients
  • Ability to work both as a team member and alone with clients
  • Ability to maintain confidentially of client and personnel information
