Mine Vision Systems (MVS) is dedicated to providing advanced workflow-integrated perception which improve speed safety and productivity for the mining industry. We are a spinoff from Carnegie Mellon Universitys National Robotics Engineering Center and are located in Pittsburghs East Liberty neighborhood. Following the successful product launch of our FaceCapture Mapping System we are in a growth mode and we are seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer to join our team.
As a Sr. Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for leading the new and continuous development work for the electrical systems on the FaceCapture Mapping System used by our customers in hard rock mining environments
You will help bridge cutting-edge robotics research with robust deployable solutions that work in the harshest real-world conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering design reviews with internal and external development teams
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical firmware software) on performance requirements for new circuit board designs
- Lead relationship with PCBA assembly houses to ensure on time delivery of tested and verified components
- Develop internal and external requirements and specification documents
- Comfortable building a development schedule and planning resource needs to keep projects on track
- Generate system diagrams electrical schematics wiring harness diagrams and assist with assembly and build documentation.
- Support field deployments and trials at customer sites (up to 10% travel).
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience working with field robotic systems sensors or autonomous platforms.
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or similarly related field (Masters degree preferred but not required).
- Circuit Design & Analysis: Analog digital and mixed-signal circuit design; PCB layout; simulation tools (Altium Designer preferred)
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Oscilloscopes logic analyzers multimeters signal generators thermal imaging fault diagnosis
- Soldering Skills: SMT Through-Hole desoldering and rework
- Rugged Circuit Design: designing systems that meet electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection standards and human safety compliance requirements
- Networking & Communication Protocols: Modbus CAN Ethernet/IP Profibus RS-485
- Wiring & Harness Design: Cable routing for dynamic robotic joints EMI/EMC mitigation connector selection and strain relief design
- High speed signal protocol and design: PCIe USB 3.x DDR RAM HDMI DisplayPort and Ethernet
- Sensor Integration: Encoders IMUs LIDAR ultrasonic force/torque sensors cameras and proximity sensors
- Veteran of the product development process; defining engineering requirements DVT engineering process and manufacturing at scale
