About the role
Our national parks are extraordinary places covering more than 9.5% of New South Wales and spanning diverse desert forest alpine and coastal ecosystems. They are home to around 85% of the states approximately 900 threatened species making them critical to the protection of biodiversity. Measuring ecological health and linking this to our investment in management actions is essential to delivering effective conservation outcomes across the national park estate.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service is offering a unique opportunity for a Manager Ecological Health to join the team and contribute to the conservation of New South Wales natural environment flora and fauna. At the heart of this role is the implementation of a world-leadingEcological Health Performance Scorecard program an initiative that systematically collects and reports ecological data to support adaptive evidence-based park management.
This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of best-practice and innovative approaches to ecological health monitoring helping to shape conservation priorities and drive improved outcomes for biodiversity across the state.
About you
You will bring the skills and experience required to lead the design and delivery of a comprehensive ecological health monitoring program across New South Wales national park this role you will drive the establishment and ongoing management of best-practice innovative systems plans and processes that support long-term conservation outcomes.
You will demonstrate a strong understanding of ecological survey and monitoring principles underpinned by a commitment to rigorous methodologies and forward-thinking approaches to conservation science. As an accomplished project manager you are equally confident briefing senior executives with expert insights as you are working hands-on in the field deploying survey equipment and supporting on-ground operations.
