DescriptionThe Engineering Cost and Sourcing Specialist proactively leads and optimizes cost and sourcing activities utilizing tools and streamlining processes across new programs. Responsibilities include daily cost & sourcing tracking & reporting change tracking & managing and benchmarking competitor data for all commodities. This role involves working closely with suppliers for quotes negotiating material tooling and ED&T costs throughout product development and independently managing VHE sourcing. The ECS Specialist will lead critical cost approvals across all forums manage CMFs and CRFs and track SIR and ED&T governance board approvals. The specialist adeptly brings together cross-functional teams across regions and time zones facilitating/leading meetings & discussions serving as an SME for cost & sourcing processes championing continuous improvement coaching less experienced engineers and demonstrating thorough system understanding.
Responsibilities1. Cost & Sourcing Management & Reporting
- Track cost and sourcing status daily and report out weekly.
- Report out P2EC/F2EC status.
- Maintain change tracker from PSC to J1 and report out.
- Benchmark competitor cost data for all commodities.
- Prepare and share Long Lead Funding (LLF) estimates to Program.
- Track and report Tool/Purchase orders updates to D&Rs post FDJ.
2. Supplier Engagement & Negotiation
- Work with Cost Estimation for estimates for engineering changes and with the supplier for quote.
- Discuss with the supplier and help negotiate on Material cost Tooling cost and ED&T throughout the design development and launch phases.
3. Approvals & Governance
- Lead cost approvals discussions in all cost related forums (Pre Pink Pink CPEDF Cost PAT) through CMFs till FDJ and CRFs from FDJ till J1.
- Support and track progress & approval of SIR requests.
- Track and follow up ED&T approval with governance board.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Meetings
- Lead To4 meetings and record minutes.
- Lead trade-off discussion with CFT for cost changes wherever required.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent.
