Job Summary

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll ensuring compliance with all applicable federal state and local regulations. This position requires a strong attention to detail excellent analytical skills and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. The Payroll Specialist will collaborate closely with Human Resources Finance and other departments to provide high-quality service and support to employees.

Key Responsibilities:

Process payroll for all employees accurately and on schedule using payroll systems (e.g. ADP Paychex Workday Kronos or similar platforms).

Review and verify timesheets wage computation and other information to detect and resolve payroll discrepancies.

Ensure compliance with federal state and local payroll wage and hour laws and best practices.

Maintain accurate payroll records and employee information in HRIS and payroll systems.

Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues deductions and procedures.

Prepare payroll reports for management finance and auditing purposes.

Assist with year-end processing including W-2s and other tax forms.

Collaborate with HR on employee changes impacting payroll such as new hires terminations promotions and leaves of absence.

Ensure confidentiality and security of payroll data at all times.

Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

Associate or Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or related field preferred.

2 years of experience in payroll processing or a related function.

Proficiency in payroll software (e.g. ADP Paychex Workday Kronos or similar).

Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and compliance requirements.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Hourly Pay Rate

$25.00 -$45.00 per hour depending on experience education and location.
