Position Summary

  • Teach with Purpose: At KIPP Public Schools Northern California our Education Specialists ensure that every students unique strengths are recognized supported and celebrated. You will design and/or co-design engaging differentiated lessons use data to guide instruction and create inclusive classrooms where all students can learn and thrive. Youll also integrate Social Emotional Learning and Restorative Practices to build a joyful safe and affirming community.

  • Collaborate and Grow: Youll work closely with your schools Leadership Teamincluding your Instructional Coachand partner with general education teachers and service providers to ensure all students receive the support they need. Through weekly meetings coaching and professional learning youll receive the support and feedback to grow as both an educator and advocate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience:
  • Experience teaching or supporting students with disabilities and/or students from backgrounds similar to our KIPP Northern California community (preferred)
Education:
  • Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution (required)
  • Meet one of the following eligibility requirements (required):
    • Hold a valid teaching credential in the subject of your desired role or
    • Be eligible for a General Education Limited Assignment Permit Provisional Internship Permit or Short Term Staff Permit (CPR certification by American Heart Association or American Red Cross is a prerequisite for this permit)

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the development implementation and monitoring of students Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with federal and state laws
  • Collaborate with families general education teachers and related service providers to develop measurable goals and support plans in academic behavioral and social-emotional areas
  • Deliver specialized academic instruction and intervention through models such as co-teaching push-in pull-out small-group and one-to-one support
  • Collect and analyze data regularly to track student progress toward IEP goals inform instruction and communicate growth to families
  • Develop and adapt daily and long-term lesson plans aligned with both IEP goals and KIPPs academic vision
  • Partner with general education teachers to modify materials and differentiate instruction to meet students diverse learning needs
  • Support the training and development of paraeducators and other staff to ensure consistent high-quality instructional support
  • Foster a positive inclusive and rigorous learning environment that incorporates Restorative Practices Social Emotional Learning and culturally responsive approaches
  • Communicate proactively and effectively with students families and colleagues to ensure alignment and partnership in supporting student success
  • Maintain accurate organized student records including IEP documents progress reports and evaluations
  • Engage fully in ongoing professional development and Communities of Practice to continually refine instructional and equity-centered practices

Physical Mental and Environmental Demands
Physical: Ability to navigate school and classroom settings. Ability to access and utilize technology. Occasional lifting/carrying of equipment 1-20 lbs. Physical agility to move self in various positions in order to execute duties effectively which may include kneeling walking pushing/pulling squatting twisting turning bending stooping and reaching overhead.
Mental: Stress of deadlines and normal work standards ability to analyze problems and generate alternatives work with interruptions concentrate for long periods of time read calculate perform routine math problems memorize and recall objects and people.
Environmental: School and classroom environment subject to constant interruptions and distractions. Adhere to KIPPs health and safety guidelines as outlined by the CDC CDE and public health agencies recommendations.

Classification

This is a full-time exempt position on a school year calendar cycle located at our school sites.
